Forehand smash analysis issues

Forehand smash contact point too low

When racket-side wrist height relative to the shoulder (torso ratio) falls below about 0.15 at contact, Badmi flags “contact too low.” That means the wrist did not form enough height above the shoulder line. It does not measure racket face or diagnose shuttle speed.

How Badmi flags a low contact point, how the metric is measured, and what to practice first.

A low contact point is one of the structured forehand-smash issues Badmi can emit. The system computes contact height only on the detected overhead contact frame and compares it with an engineering threshold.

How the system decides

  • Metric code: contact_height.
  • Issue code: contact_too_low.
  • Trigger: ratio below about 0.15.
  • Detail: contact is too low; the wrist did not form effective height above the shoulder line.

What to practice

  1. Confirm a side view that shows the contact instant clearly.
  2. Practice finishing contact higher instead of swinging after the shuttle has dropped.
  3. Train contact height alone before stacking elbow or knee fixes.
  4. Re-record from the same setup and check whether the issue still fires.
